Well, it was an utter debacle for TRS in Andhra Pradesh, irrespective of the manifesto and especially the T-factor. I believe that trouncing the mandate of the people prematurely for a movement that was losing steam probably undid TRS. TRS has now lost two Lok Sabha and 9 Assembly seats held by it earlier.
Mr. K Chandrashekar Rao, the president of TRS has not come out of his sprawling residence in Jubilee Hills and addressed the media. He is supposedly “contemplating” the democratic verdict from the people of Telengana. The loss and humiliation meted out against TRS could be partially attributed to Mr. KCR himself and he should submit and take full responsibility for the debacle.
Mind you, there was a strong anti-incumbency stream against the Congress, which unfortunately Mr. KCR could not read well and capitalize. To add to his woes he has won by a wafer thin margin of 15000 votes in Karimnagar, where as in his last stand he had won by a margin of almost 200,000 votes, which is a record of sorts.
This by-election was totally unnecessary and sheer waste of public money and TRS had to dearly pay for this irresponsible act. The Election Commission indicated that it had spent close to 15 crores for this elections and employed 1000s for election duty. A great lost of money and manhours for the nation.
There are several reasons why TRS lost, they include
1) Incorrect strategies of artificially creating a movement for Telangana, which was never truly there in a scale to capitalize on.
2) Party second like Mr A Narendra quitting along with a slice of rebels.
3) Weak leadership of Mr. K Chandrasekar Rao
